Hamilton 39108 – The Military Watch Resource – Community Fora – Luxury watches

A few years back I found this watch in some military watch material Henri brought down stairs from storage. The Hamilton case is marked 39108 and has a 987S movement. The dial on it was different from most Hamilton dials I am familiar with until yesterday when I found the same dial in NOS condition. The NOS dial was purchased by Henri along with other dials and Hamilton material from the late Dr. Robert Ravel who purchased the Hamilton material when the factory closed. Well to make the story short ,I serviced the watch and installed the NOS dial with new hands. Attached is also a scan of the original dial that was on the watch. The font seems a bit smaller on the old dial compared to the NOS dial.

Apologies that a Hamilton owner is sullying your forum, but I figure you’d tolerate me for this:

On the Thursday 12/19/08 edition of the US version of the Jeopardy! gameshow, there was a clue involving Patek Philippe. I’m sorry I don’t have all the details, as I was only half-watching as I was running on a treadmill at my gym.

The category was something like "Santa’s Coming" or "Presents I Want" and the clue was along the lines of requesting a Patek Philippe [certain model], which is a type of this. The contestant correctly answered "What is a watch?"

I hope some of you got to see this and can bring better detail.
